When the health care reform bill, often referred to as “Obamacare” but as much or more a product of the Democrat-controlled Congress, I was dubious. It was huge, unread by most who passed it, and purported to provide care for more people at less cost. Knowing what I do about health care and what would need to be done to perform such magic, and knowing the track record of our “leaders,” my suspicions seem to be well founded. As more information comes out, the promises appear more and more spurious. The bill is loaded with new taxes and the requirements of the new law are already driving gun-shy insurers from the marketplace. A recent piece by columnist John Stossel makes the point more eloquently, so why reinvent the wheel (or miss an opportunity to employ an overused cliché)?

For those of you who believe in magic, never mind.
